Seventh seed Serena Williams of the U.S. holds the Australian Open tennis trophy after her win over compatriot and top seed Lindsay Davenport in Melbourne January 29, 2005. Williams defeated Davenport 2-6 6-3 6-0 to win the first grand slam of the year. With the victory, Williams captured her second Australian Open title and seventh Grand Slam singles title.
