Kirsten Dunst: Coppola convinced me
Kirsten Dunst only took the role of Marie Antoinette after discovering Sofia Coppola would be directing the film of the historic figure's life.
The actress is to play the lead role in the life story of Antoinette, an Austrian archduchess who married into the French royal family in 1770.
Dunst has now revealed she only agreed to take the role because she is such a fan of director Sofia Coppola, whose previous work includes 'Lost In Translation'.
She said: "She captures who I am more then anybody else."
Coppola is the only American female to be nominated for an Oscar. She has previously worked with Dunst before on 'The Virgin Suicides'.
The star is convinced she has done the role justice because of her affiliation with the character.
