Depp and Burton in Sweeney Todd

Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are reuniting to make a feature film based on the Stephen Soundheim musical Sweeney Todd. Hollywood.com reports that Depp's schedule has recently been freed up, after Peter Weir quit Depp's Shantaram project yesterday, pushing the production back to early next year. Depp will play Todd in the new musical, a barber and serial killer who cuts his victims throats with a razor.
American director, Burton, and his favorite actor, Depp, have enjoyed a fruitful working partnership which has taken in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sleepy Hollow, Ed Wood and Edward Scissorhands.
