Julia Roberts refused a string of lucrative films offers to spend time with her twin babies, until director Joe Mantello persuaded her to make her New York theatre debut in Three Days Of Rain.
The actress took time out of her successful movie career in 2004 to spend time with her cameraman husband Daniel Moder and their children Phinnaeus Walter and Hazel Patricia, 16 months, at their New Mexico ranch.
After a long hiatus, Roberts has returned to acting, making her Broadway debut this month in the family drama, which also stars Paul Rudd and Bradley Cooper.
Roberts tells the New York Post, "I needed an exemplary reason to leave the house.
My family is very fulfilling and interesting to me. And for me to step away from that for any period of time, I was going to have to do something that was really different and challenging.
Joe really lured me into this. It's one of his favourite plays. We had a long conversation about it, and he made it all seem so vibrant and exciting."
Some gossip sources also claimed that George Clooney and Julia Roberts are in a feud after
she didn't accept to play in Ocean's 13.
