Drugs Killed Daniel Smith
Much mystery and speculation has surrounded the death of Daniel Smith, son of model Anna Nicole Smith. He died in the Bahamas on September 10th while visiting his mother in hospital, who had just given birth to a daughter. The cause of death was unknown, with many speculating that drugs had been involved. Now, after a second round of toxicology tests, it has been revealed that Smith had a cocktail of drugs in his system. "It's not possible to say it was one drug over the other. There's no way," forensic pathologist Dr Cyril Wecht told E! Online, adding that the medication had a cumulative effect. A lethal combination of methadone, commonly used by heroin addicts, and the antidepressants Zoloft and Lexapro was found to be in Smith's blood stream. However, Dr Wecht dismisses any suggestions that the death was suicide. "Classically, you take one drug to overdose," Wecht said. "You don't need three drugs." Smith's body is being kept in the Bahamas, in a funeral home rented by his family. Howard K Stern, Anna Nicole's lawyer and father of her daughter, told Larry King that the new mother is having a difficult time. "Our baby is the one ray of hope and it's the one thing that's really keeping her going," he said.
