Beckhams Settle Libel Suit

David and Victoria Beckham have dropped a libel suit against the News Of The World because they feared being cross-examined about their relationship. The celebrity couple reached a private settlement with the Sunday publication's lawyers last week because they didn't want to reveal details of their seven-year marriage in the witness stand at London's High Court. The pair were seeking "aggravated and exemplary" damages after a September 2004 article titled 'Posh And Becks On Rocks' alleged the couple was on the verge of splitting, but were staying together to promote 'Brand Beckham'. A statement from the News Of The World says, "The defamation proceedings by David and Victoria Beckham against the News of the World have been resolved on a confidential basis. There will be no further comment."
