Natalie Portman has won the Venice Film Festival's first 'humanity award'.
The actress has pipped
Angelina Jolie to win the Venice Film Festival's first humanity award. Natalie was the first recipient of the Movie for Humanity Award, given to film artists who devote themselves to humanitarian causes. Along with the award Natalie also received a cheque for $56,000 which she donated to the Tacare Girl's Scholarship Programme in the Jane Goodall Institute in Tanzania, a charity involved in wildlife research and education.
"The Jane Goodall foundation does incredible work in Tanzania," Natalie said. "An area which is very environmentally affected. I really appreciate this award."
