Kate Moss Drops Drug Libel Case
Supermodel Kate Moss reportedly pulled out of her libel case 30 March after refusing to sign a Statement of Truth regarding her denials of cocaine abuse.
The catwalk beauty filed a lawsuit against Five regarding their 2004 documentary The Truth About Kate Moss - which alleged the star was a regular cocaine user, who once had to be revived from a drug-induced coma.
Last month, Five won the right to use the images published by the Daily Mirror last year as evidence, showing the model snorting the drug in a London recording studio.
Moss dropped her lawsuit after being asked to sign the Statement of Truth yesterday, as she was unable to deny she was taking cocaine in the picture, and has thus been hit with legal costs of GBP60,000.
A senior legal source says, "It is unprecedented for a libel claimant to chuck in the towel like this.
"It was always obvious that her claim was weak and it was surprising that she even considered suing."
