Simpson, 26, and Mayer, 29, spent months refusing to talk about romance rumors but confirmed they were an item during a romantic March break in Rome, Italy, where they kissed and held hands. The couple was last seen together at the Costume Institute Gala in New York on May 7. The split news comes just days after Simpson's manager father Joe announced he approved of his daughter's new beau, stating, "I love him; he's got great music... and he's a legend already."
